Accountant -- Bookkeeping and Tax

Applicant will work closely with clients in all aspects of their business and will have the opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of public accounting.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Build strong working relationship with clients

  • Identify and communicate issues and progress in an organized timely manner

  • Problem solve to achieve accuracy and completeness in all job aspects

  • Perform the following bookkeeping and tax return preparation tasks for multiple small business clients:

    • Full and partial service bookkeeping using QuickBooks, Excel, and other proprietary accounting software

      • Reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts

      • Analyze and communicate any irregularities on financial statements

    • Assist with tax return preparation

      • Ensure client bookkeeping data is ready for tax preparation

      • Manage and compile tax documents, including receiving documents from clients, data entry, printing and filing of tax docs during tax season

    • Communicate frequently via email and phone with clients

    • Back-up to office reception, including answering phones, greeting clients, filing

Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or Finance, or 5 years of experience with payroll, bookkeeping and/or tax preparation

  • CPA or Enrolled Agent certification a plus

  • Technology Savvy - Proficient in QuickBooks, Excel and other Cloud-based applications

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients and government agencies

  • Must be able to work independently and multi-task

  • Capable of problem-solving and adapting to changing client needs

  • Ability to meet deadlines while juggling multiple assignments

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Must have enthusiasm and excellent customer service skills

  • Stress tolerance

  • Previous CPA Firm experience recommended

  • Tax preparation experience preferred

Front Office Receptionist

We have an immediate opening for an experienced front office receptionist in a small, growing local public CPA firm in Flagstaff. Applicant must possess a high level of professionalism and effective decision-making abilities. The position is permanent, full-time.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be reliable and willing to work full time week day business hours, with some overtime expected during busy seasons.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Must be able to work independently and multi-task

  • Ability to be efficient and productive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Must have enthusiasm and excellent customer service skills

  • Enjoy working with people and possess a friendly and outgoing personality

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures

  • Ability to work a multi-line telephone system

  • General computer hardware/software knowledge preferred

  • Technology Savvy - Experience with QuickBooks, Excel and other Cloud-based applications helpful

Responsibilities

  • Greet clients warmly and make sure they are comfortable (offer water, coffee or tea if necessary)

  • Answer, screen and forward incoming phone calls

  • Ensure reception area is tidy and presentable, with all necessary stationery and materials

  • Provide basic and accurate information in-person and via phone/email

  • Receive, sort and distribute daily mail/deliveries

  • Create office supplies list and keep inventory of stock

  • Update office calendars and schedule meetings

  • Perform other clerical receptionist duties such as filing, photocopying, transcribing and faxing

  • Printing and compiling tax documents during tax season

  • Hand out and process employee applications

  • Prepare correspondence and documents
